Brakes 650 HT 1- 2008 prowler

Ok, so here it goes! I say that because my head hurts from reading all the posts everywhere on this topic.

2008 650 HT 1 M4 (camo)
Parking brake is not holding
Omg, drive line noise when going down a hill and braking
Rear drive rotor looks like it's needs replaced

Ok, so do I invest in replacement OEM or what? Is there a better rotor and pads for the drive line? Is there a conversion to 4 wheel brakes with parking brake?

And is there some way to start this rascal in gear? I got seriously educated on the mountain this weekend with no winch but some pulled out some rope and large ratchet strap to get her free and back to neutral to start.

Looking for some solid direction and recommendations...
BOB

I should start in gear by just holding the brake pedal down. A few here have done 4-wheel brake conversions they'll be on soon to help in the mean time I'll look for some links.
To get the parking brake to hold you'll need to pull the arm off the caliper and turn it a couple splines, there's details on how to do that in the service manual. If you don't have the manual you can download a free pdf version here: "K&T Parts House Lawn Mower Parts and Chain Saw & Trimmer Parts"

Here's a link to the 4 wheel brake conversion, Mike and Shane should be able to help you with a parts list.

In reference to the brake noise, do you have the anti-rattle springs on the rear caliper? If you do try putting a piece of heater hose between them and the caliper, the extra pressure or maybe it's the rubber that helps with the noise but mine is better. Most have said part of the noise problem is because the rear brake rotor gets warped.

All right I'm going to take a break and let someone else chime in that can be more help.

Wow....lol, I feel dumb but that's why I asked the experts! I'm new with this Artic cat but man it's got a heck of a climbing gear. I put in the extreme.

Ok, so if in gear and press brake and it doesn't start or try? It's in the mountains and I'm headed back day after thanksgiving and taking notes...

Thanks for your time and responses to my issue

Bob

Pressing the brake pedal should let it start in any gear if it doesn't turn over there must be an electrical issue somewhere. A switch, sensor or something.
