LED lights and accessories plugs

I am putting a set of small LED lights on the front of my HDX. Is there any reason I can't use the accessories plug under the dash as the power supply? I'm looking to go from the lights to switch to the accessories plug. Also is it required to use a relay if the lights have a lot lower amp pull the the switch?
Also are the accessorie plugs hot, or do they become hot when the key is on?

I think the accessory plug is rated at 10-15 amps, the one under the dash is keyed hot, the one near the engine on mine is also keyed hot. It should support a set of LED's without a relay. I have a 2009 Prowler XTX BTW! And Welcome to the site! Best group of people you will ever encounter! Keep coming back!

welcome to the house mjdunk .. new guy gets to brew the morning coffee [start early some of us get up real early [you know old farts don't sleep worth a crap] you will need a BIG pot and also new feller brings in a load of wood for the fire .. join in on some BS and you have fun here.

suggest you fill in your signature line and location so later when you ask a question we won't have to answer with a question , also helps us to have an idea as to ride terrain and where to send ya for "stuff"
