Speedo quit today...again

My speedometer quit again today, it has been doing it off & on for almost a year and before I could turn the key off and restart to get it working again. Today that hasn't worked. I cleaned all the connections and used dielectric grease except for the one at the cluster which is a pain to get to. Everything else on the cluster works, even switching to RPM mode the needle works so I think it has to be either the sensor in the engine or the connection at the cluster. Anyone else have this happen?

At least it can be tested/replaced out side the engine! I kept thinking the sensor was internal!

I put my GPS in last night so I know how fast I'm going, one of the local cops sent my daughter a video of me speeding on Main St. I couldn't have been going much over, it's an area where the speed limit drops from 35 to 25 mph.

I'm going to check the connections again today and see if there might be a break in the wires somewhere. I wish there was a little more room under the dash to check the cluster connection.

Understand that one! Working under the dash is a nightmare! I cut a good sized hole behind my gage panel, I can pull the panel, unplug the gages, and I have room to get behind the cluster!

I think it would have to be the sensor or the cluster, if it was a bad connection just turning off and restarting wouldn't make it start working again like its done in the past.

I'll have to work on this problem another day. Today got the fix the Sister-In-Laws wheelchair van, the ramp wouldn't deploy and she was trapped inside I found the problem just have to make a bracket to protect a switch from shorting out on one of the ramp braces when it closes.

Not much talent just know I'll if I don't try to fix it, it won't get fixed. I need your metal working skills & the tools would help also. My wife's whole family is handicapped and she isn't far from it either, she avoids stairs at all cost. I did fix the current problem with the lift but I saw another one developing with the chain rollers on the sliding door, project for another day.
