dash flashing

I have a 2007 Prowler 650 with about 600 miles on it. The other day as I was riding the dash started flashing and the speedometer stopped working. The digital part or the dash goes off and then seems if it is trying to reset and does so for a second and then it flashes off again. Someone suggested a loose wire, but the flashing occurs on a regular interval ( every 2 seconds or so ) and then resets again and again. The machine does seem to run fine, but I am trying to figure out what is wrong.. Does anyone have any ideas?

Diagnose it

You need to narrow down the possabilities first.
With the machine parked and off, what happens when you just turn the ignition to 'ON' without starting it? Does the display come alive and stay on without your flashing issue?

If it does, that would indicate there is nothing wrong with the computer or display. You should check wiring for shorts and/or loose connections. I would check at the main connections, because you have been having to jump it, so you may have unclipped a plug inadvertantly, or damaged a wire along the way in that area.

My theory is it keeps resetting itself every few seconds because it keeps getting partial computer feed, but not continuous feed.

JUST SAYING... Good luck

I agree with CCDAMEEK. Even thjough the connector is securely attached, is there a loose wire in the connector ? I would also suspect a poor / intermittant ground. Check the black wire at the speedo connector and make sure its tight
