Question Switch problems

I've notices that my low beam switch hasn't been working for a while and then today I got into some mud and needed my diff lock and same problem with it, no upper movement. I was able to force the diff lock switch enough to get unstuck, some real stinky mud I was stuck in. I got the hose out and started rinsing the goo off and decided to hit the switches once. Well water is what the doctor ordered, both switches now work, go figure. Anyone else had problems with their rocker switches?

Sounds like you have dirt in them and when they are wet they can make a connection and work.My guess is that as soon as the water drys out they will not work again.
I have not had any problems with my switches but we usually don't get as muddy as you guys do.Lots of dust and mud is sometimes hard to come by.

Actually the problem is the switch won't rock to the low beam position on the lights and the diff switch won't rock to the lock position when this happened. Still could be dirt but I don't think it's inside of the switches. (I hope it's not inside the switches )

If they won't rock that tells me they are probably being held up by dirt or mud.Hard to tell without having them to look at but the switch should come apart and be able to be cleaned out.Conact cleaner that you can get from radio shack might do it with out taking them apart. My opinion would be to take them apart if you can or if they come apart and clean them out and then use dielectric grease on them to help keep it from happening again.Maybe seal up the switch with silicone on the outside?
