I am not sure about what I hear.

I hear some noises in the rear end area that sound to me like maybe something not ingaging correctly . Not a grinding noise so much as more like something slipping .. I hear this in reverse while backing up.. not sure is it is normal or not .. Years ago I bought a 1965 Chevy Truck and the Possi Rear end had some clutches go out and this has a simular sound . I have the 650 Artic Cat

I have a 08 xtx and I had something similar I ended up wearing some groves in my clutch sleeves. Don't know if this helps but mine was making a slipping noise and I noticed at higher speeds I lost some power and it was kind of jerking ever so slightly. Hope this helps!!

Is it possible your brake caliper is hanging up. Mud or rocks in the pads. It is mounted on the input flange to the rear end.
