anyone had the rear drive shaft out?

rear input shaft has to be replaced but not sure how to get out drive shaft, does it slide out or do you have to remove the pinion cover.

Are we talking the input shaft or yoke in the rear end? If so you just have to remove the nut behind the u joint on the early 2006-2007 prowlers.

the 08 is different, does not have a yoke, it should slide out, but don't want to force it until i know.

Type in prowler. Then pick your model and year. Then click on illustrated parts list. Then click on rear gear case assembly or drive shaft. You can magnify the pics too to get a closer view of what you are dealing with.

Looks like drive train assembly shows the front and rear drive lines.

K there is a flange it looks like on the front of the rear drive shaft. The splined areas should just slip out. Option 2 is unbolt the rear diff and slide it back. The axles should have enough spline on them to lift the diff up and back some to release the spline on the drive shaft. I would think the rubber boots on the drive shaft would have to have the clamps removed so you don't tear the rubber boot.

That flange on the front of the drive line looks like what you need to unbolt.
