Help with Engine Failure

My buddy was driving my 2006 Prowler yesterday at our hunting lease and it died while on the road. It lost all power accompanied with a loud backfire.

We were unable to turn the engine over, it sounds like the engine is "stuck" or something and makes the smallest of a turn.

Oil pressure and level was fine before failure (has oil pressure gauge) and had been driven all weekend.

Any suggestions? Could it be electrical? I assume it is probably something really bad like a cam chain or drive belt?

Thanks

With the backfire, it sounds like it lost timing, could be the chain. Hope nothing bad occurred!

Lot's of miles, not sure. Probably 6-8K miles. Top end has been rebuilt twice, took to 700cc last year, new drive belt, new cam and rockers, but never replaced cam chain.

If I pull the plug and it turns over, assume it's a cam chain issue. Correct?

I would also pull the rocker arm covers to see if you are moving the valves when you turn it over.
