Blown engine--where do I get another?

I have a 2007 Arctic Cat Prowler HD1 and I lost the engine.

Dealer wants $4,800 to replace.

Any ideas on a more reasonable alternative?

Are there used engines out there, and if so where?

Thanks,

Don Martin

I have the same year one and also blew the engine. I am having it rebuilt by a local shop who is arctic cat certified, going to cost me about $2500 out the door. also arcticcatparts.com is the cheapest I found for a new engine, about $2800. hope this helps and good luck

tell the dealer to remove the boner he is trying to give you.

sounds like he just doesn't want the business from you 'cause he sure gave the dumb azz price .. kinda like a woman going in for service at a car dealership that is shady

name is Gary or hey you if ya forget

2009 Prowler XTZ , couple things added here and there
'83 CJ7 / SBC + whole lot added here and there
'01 Dodge / Cummins / Dually, a ton of stuff added here and there

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEWBIES ...
1. Bring in a good load of firewood for the pit
2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!
3. sit a spell and swap some lies with the best of us

Yep thats the updated gears in the transmission, also new crank and bearings and connecting rod , piston and rings, new oil pump and all necessary gaskets and seals. also had to replace the air cleaner housing that was broken and he is going to rejet the carb for higher altitude. Nice guy and always been up front with me on what it needs and doesnt need. There are still honest mechanics out there. I am a truck mechanic and I pulled the motor myself and started to tear it down but I was not comfortable when it came to splitting the case apart. better to let someone who knows what their doing do it. Plus I get a warranty.

Yes the main body of the housing was broken off where it bolts to the cross support. was allowing dirt to get sucked into the engine. you would think that when you buy it from a dealer and they say they went through it thoroughly they would catch something like that. also had front differential seals leaking, brakes were worn out and the left rear a-arm was bent from hitting something pretty hard. oh but they told me it was traded in by an " older " couple who used it very little. must have been Evil Kenivel's parents.
