check your intake boot!

So went on a long ride yesterday and prowler started cutting out. When I got home I could hear a pretty good hissing sound or it kind of sounded like a fan running. I squeezed the intake boot coming off the air filter box and there was some big cracks in it. Don't know how much dirt was getting sucked in and I hope the cutting out wasn't due to some engine failure because of the dirt. It started running good again when I got back on pavement. Not sure why this part would fail like that. Really no stress on it must have been heat.

This has been reported before, I looked at mine, and while it did not have any cracks in it, the boot was very brittle. Thanks for sharing!
