Drive shaft clunk???

Hey guys just picked up a used 2009 700xtx. Not sure if this is normal or not but since I got the machine when braking hard I get this clunking sound.

I don't think it's the rear break like I have read bc it sounds like it's coming from either the front of the machine or under the motor cover.

It also does it does when driving off and letting off the gas, just one clunk Maybe clutch? The throttle seems super touchy. Very hard to drive of smooth as well as slow down.

I have no clue but it's pretty loud and everyone that rides in it always ask what it is

Welcome to the forum! You have the same machine I have, it took me a little time to get used to the throttle to. From your description, I'd guess clutch/belt. How doe's it run other than that?

It runs great, very quick. I went from a gator 620i XUV to this....way faster!

Thinking clutch and belt, I'm guessing either haven't been touched since new ? How do you like your epi clutch set up. I was thinking about it, but don't want to make harder to drive then it already is.

has far as your touchy throttle you can buy a stiffer spring, that's what i did,i got mine from speed werx's.it made a big difference.

the 2010 1000 xtz has a stiff spring as well maybe easier to order. I personally though it was to stiff in the beginning then I got use to it and bobs your uncle I liked it. As far as your clunk goes I'm going to guess drive shafts or u joints if it has or maybe rear diff play or your diffs are loose in the frames. check the bolts holding them. Could also be the frame holding the diffs are cracked. check for terrible welds. my rear diff actually fell out of the frame.

For the money, EPI was hard to beat, helped my mjd range, and crusing speed. The throttle took awhile to get used to, but once you do it works fine!

Thanks guys for warm welcome!

Yeah it's something to do with the drive shafts. When I manually turned the shafts back and forth you can hear the clunk sound. Sounds like the clunking is coming from inside the transmission. Is this normal??? Or do I have a big problem.
