700 hdx

okay I was out at camp this weekend and a guy I know out there has a 2011 0r 12 700 HDX. He broke both outer cv's so I sold him a pair of half axles from my prowler 1000 for 50 bucks.(good outers inners were gone)
while talking he says his machine uses a lot of oil. Is this normal for the 700 or is there another problem? He has been to the dealer with no help on the oil problem. I'm thinking maybe crank case vent is pumping it out. I have not read any where on this problem and I have not looked at the machine myself.
Point me in the right direction boys.

No for sure that's not normal,Rob do you know much history about the bike, how often does he let the air filter get dirty before cleaning it,the HDX has a poor location for the air intake under the bed for collecting dirt, dust, mud. he might also check his crankcase vent.

2015 A/C Sport,With a few add ons..........

going to look at it when he brings it out next weekend after he puts the axles in. going to look at what you say. He is a little un happy with his purchase but it could be self induced.

He was not driving it at the time. His gf had it out and broke one then broke the other on the way home. He has also replaced both clutches again he was not driving it. I think now he going take the key with him and gf will have to walk or buy her own. I think she drives the crap out of it.
