Who's got a 500 HDX

Hi there,

New to the forum, new to the sxs world, but long time offroader.
After our first daughter was born in June 2014, me and my wife started shopping for a sxs. We ended up getting a 500 HDX, mostly because of price and the ability to seat 3 up front.

Now its been great to us and love the versatility, but I cant seem to find enthusiasts like me. Most of the knowledge I gather is from the 700 owners.

Who's got real world experience with this 500?

Cheers
Joe

Welcome to the site! The 500HDX is an attractive machine for families! Cost and features place it at the top of the list for lower cost UTV's. Not sure on the 500 motor, but suspect it is very similar to the 700 Prowler motor! It should have decent power for 90% of any given situation! Ideal for family fun! You have me thinking about searching the parts list now!

We have been using it for about 5 months now and I can honestly say that the only time I wished for more power was during a high speed run. Other than that, if you don't need high speeds, it always feels strong.
I have towed my Jet ski around, hauled many full beds of cinder blocks, mulch, gravel, bricks; even pulled stumps out with it and it never felt week for a 500 class machine.
Plus the 3 seats allow us to go enjoy the trails all together.

The lack of information on this machine had me worried, but so far so good.

PS : Lift kit has arrived, your about to see the first lifted 500 HDX!

Arctic Cat seems to do a great job on new machines! The HDX line has been around since 2011 (?), and it is based off the Prowler. Their basic design has stayed pretty much the same over the years, so parts swapping among the years is doable! I have a 2009, and use mostly stock items for upgrading. I wouldn't switch my Prowler for anything, and I expect it will last my lifetime! LOL
