Front differential lock problem?

I don't think my front differential lock is working right. I was on three wheels the other day, trying to get up out of the creek. I could see the left front wheel off the ground. I was locked in, but that wheel was not spinning. My understanding is that the front diff lock is supposed to send equal power to both front wheels. Am I wrong on this? I can hear the actuator moving when I slide the switch, and 4wd is working fine. Any thoughts?

You should see both wheels spinning! 4 wheel will lock up the front gear, and 4 wheel lock will lock up both wheels! Two different things happening! I had a switch go bad on mine, the lock on mine came off!

Hmmm. Guess I'll have to investigate. Like I said, I can hear the electrical actuator when I hit the dash switch. Sounds just like when I put it in 4WD. Anything in particular to look for or any ideas how to figure out what the problem is? Thnx

Garage
I had my right front axle pop lose, (bad clip) and that kept mine from locking up.

Ok, it appears my left drive axle is not fully seated. Now, this machine has those funky white axles with the push/pull c-clip/ball bearing set up. I've tried to just push it in fully, but looks like I'm gonna have to take the left front knuckle off, and push/push on this thing to get it to seat properly.

So I cannot get this axle to seat all the way in to where the clip settles in place. I don't think that is what is causing the front lock problem anyway after looking inside the front diff. I'm not anywhere near ready to take it out and take it apart. That looks like a ton of work that will eat heavily into riding time.

I ended up pushing mine in, and then smacking it with a rubber mallet! I just didn't have enough ass behind me! LOL

Yeah, I can't get it. I just don't know how it works. The actuator pulls that pin outward. Maybe it isn't pulling far enough out? I cannot tell. If anybody knows, and can explain in layman terms, how the front diff lock works, I'm all ears (or eyes in this case!).

Just thinking out loud, but do both wheels have to be on the ground in order for the front diff lock to work?

No load sensor on the front diff. I had trouble getting my new style axles in, I pushed the axle into the CV joint, and inserted into the diff, it would not go, tried again and seemed to hit a spot where the axle went in further, and the axle slid right in. After using the new style, I plan on updating the back also!
