Tilt Steering hard to drive

I have a 2008 Prowler 700 XTX with tilt steering. The steering wheel is loose, has about an inch of play, up and down and left to right. it that makes it hard to drive at speeds above 30 MPH because I'm all over the road . I was thinking about replacing the tilt mechanism with the updated AC part number 0505-886 and was wondering if they fixed this problem? or possibly changing it out to a the non tilt style with AC part number 0405-321. anyone know if I will need any other parts to do it or any other possible fixes.

Welcome to the forum! I have a 2009 XTX with tilt steering, and have not had any issues with it. Replacing the tilt mechanism should fix your problem! While it is possible to change to a fixed steering shaft, the instrument bevels between the two are different. You could make a filler plate to cover the large hole from the tilt assembly.

Mine only has play in the turning the wheel back and forth, otherwise pretty solid!
