When engaging low the prowler runs in reverse.

Hello, I need some help with this issue, my 2012 prowler 1000 has an issue in the gearbox. When I select low, is goes on reverse and when I engage H sometimes its wont run and begin running as if it was braked and trying to fight the brake to run. I already checked the oil level, changed to new oil, calibrated and checked the lever cable. Does someone has any info on this. I also changed the electronic selector and no fix at all. I have my prowler in south america and far from a dealer.. so any help would be really appreciated.

Welcome friend! Not familiar with the 2012 1000 XTZ shift pattern, but here goes: I'd disconnect the shift linkage at the case shaft and then shift it by hand to see what the indicator reads. You should feel by hand each gear detent. If this allows proper operation then the shift cable is the culprit, if not it may be a bent/broken shift fork internal to the engine, and it will require a engine disassembly. I'm sure others will chime in!

I have actually two prowlers... we have been dealing with this issue in one of them for quite a while. We have done all of the above but the issue persists, we have tried all but open the engine cases which wouod
Be the last option. The weird thing is that the second prowler was loosing oil on the gearbox and began with the same issue began... we did service, and completed oil and the issue was solved. But on the other one we have tried all and nothjng helps. What would you recomend to change inside the engine case. Thanks

a new condition or been there for a long time / since new to you ?

thinking bent shift lever inside also IF it was shifting very hard and forced into gear and running fine before.

sorry just thinking out loud here as I have never been inside mine and never experienced this condition

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEWBIES ...
1. Bring in a good load of firewood for the pit
2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!
3. sit a spell and swap some lies with the best of us

I think with the 1000, you can drop the lower engine case. (the 1000 has a three piece case), it would allow a visual inspection of the transmission components. The shift forks appear to be cast pieces which tend to break rather than bend. I suspect one is damaged, so any attempt at grabbing a gear it overshoots. Where about in South America are you located? Always eager to track locations!
