5w -50 oil for 09 prowler 650xt H1

Is this really what I need that is what the bible says I am down about a 1/4 to 1/2 qt I went and bought a kit at dealer last oil change. What is suggested I use to top off

yep. that is what the manual says.
i have always used mobil 1 oil. looking at the mobil1 5w-50 spec, it is sm compliant so it will have no issues.
i used to get the kits from cat but they were so darn expensive i decided to get a wix filter and use mobil 1 0-40 on my ride. its been 5000+ miles so far without issues. im surprised the 09 is different oil than the 2012. although as with everything... everyone will have their favorite oils

I've been using Mobil 1 full synthetic 4T motorcycle oil in mine.

'07 Prowler 650 H1 XT, L.E.D. stop/turn signals, Summit Racing heater, AC winch, AC windshield, soft cab & doors, 6' Eagle Plow, oil gauge, Maxxis MT-762 truck tires, AC Fender Flares, E-Brake alarm, Yutrax UTV Jump Seat, Dynatek CDI

The 10w-40 Racing 4T? I've been thinking about it because of the heat these motors create. I may switch to this, too.

Mobil also make's a 20/50 in their motorcycle stuff! I used it until my source dried up! Switched to AMSOIL because I can get it locally (only reason).

2009 700EFI XTX, , AC Winch, 2010 Dust Shield EPI Sport Utility Clutch Kit , Street Legal, Cage chopped 2 ", Aluminum Diamond Plate Trim, Relocated Factory Bladders with covers, 5 Pt. Harness installed, Bed Tiedown System, Scat Pro-Car Seats, Secondary Battery installed, Oil Pressure, Oil/CVT Temperature, Volt Meter & Water Temp Gauges installed with Dash Plate, Bighorns, ITP Black 212 Wheels. Tonneau cover. 750 Big Bore Kit, Web Cam, and Rocker Arms.

That's my main reason for using Mobil I can buy it local, it's not much cheaper than the AC oil kit but at least I don't have to make a 70 mile round trip to Bass Pro to get it.
