cheap stereo solution

I decided I wanted some music in the prowler but wanted something easily removable so I could park it without worry when camping. So I ordered a little marine amp from ebay and picked up some water 'resistant' speakers from Walmart. Loaded some mp3's on an sd card and put into my Lowrance gps and instant tunes! Haven't got my speaker baffles from Crutchfield but they actually sound pretty good hanging there. Should sound much better with the baffles. I took a quick ride and noticed that the passenger side speaker will need some bracing from the dash to the firewall but other than that it worked pretty good.

You mount the speakers in the dash? Canít tell from the pick. Cool idea.

Yes in the dash, between the driver/passengers knees. I hated to cut the dash but figured if it didn't work out I would put some diamond plate 'accent' squares to cover the holes.

Hey, I have the same GPS. Hoe do you like yours? Mine goes dead in about 1.5 hours and will even go from full charge to dead while turned off in 3 days. Does yours do this?

They don't last long for some reason. I always carry the car charger and charge it while we ride anyway. Lowrance also stopped the support for the xog crossovers.

I put in a Jensen heavy duty radio with speakers that i got from Milford Power Equipt. over the internet. for $283, i am very happy with it, i put the speakers in the front upper corners of the windshield and made my own mounting bracket for the radio so i can take it out when i am not in the machine.

On my machine, I made a box from 1/2" MDF, covered it with a layer of fiberglass for strength, then shot it with spray on bed liner. The sweet part is the box fits in the empty spot in the front part of the rollcage, in the X and drops down a bit. On the bottom side of the box is mounted 2 marine speakers, the front the cd deck is mounted, the antennea is mounted inside the box and also added an interiour light on the bottom as well. Only had to run 2 wires up there for power and it removes quickly with 4 small bolts.
