Tool Inquiry - T30 (star)

i recently had to replace my studs on the front of my HDX. i have done this on my atv without issue a few times but this one was different.

i had to remove the rotor from the hub to get the old studs out and the new ones in. it didnt seem like a big deal. i took the hub off, turned it around on the axle and tightened it back up so the bolts were facing me and the hub was stable enough to crank on. well i had a 3/8 socket driver with a t30, one of my 6 in the set. i had PB blaster soaking on these bolts overnight but they are covered with locktite. on the first bolt i snapped my t30. i went to my tool box and grabbed a t30 screwdriver insert and that one snapped.

well i couldnt give up so i went up town and bought some irwin t30 screwdriver inserts and put them into a socket. i got 3 of them off and the 4th one snapped my t30 again. my next insert did get the bolt out thank goodness.

my question is for those of you that have done this, what brand/stile of t30 are you using? i dont want to go back a project like this and have to buy 4 or 5 of these things hoping i can get it off.

Any time I run into locktite I apply heat. It frees the locktite so you can get the fastener out. Mine wheel studs are pressed in, doe's anyone know when AC changed this?

My studs are also press in. It's the bolts that hold my rotor to the hub that I'm removing. Stubborn buggers to get out lol.
