Console

Hey Prowlers guys, hoping you can help me out before I order some parts.

Is the newer center console (part #4406-717) insulated? I think that's a updated number and not what came on my 2012 XTZ from the factory. My research here and the web didn't answer my question. However these consoles used to cost $70-80 and now are almost $200. Ebay has some used ones different part number but I'm not 100% sure on fit as they didn't come off 1000's.

Thanks

PS The machine had a small fire on the passenger side, Wrecked the wire harness, damaged floor, console, fuel tank vent hose, gas line, oil line, clutch seal???

Insulation from the factory consists of a reflective material. XTZ, XTX Prowlers shared the same console, but early models do not have provisions for the hand brake, nor the floor tunnel. HDX's are completely different. Try PowerSportsNation.com for parts.

Reflective material doesn't seem to justify $196 plus shipping to me. I'll order the used one from PSN. Insulate it myself with Dynamat or something similar later but I live in MN so the heat may be needed until next June!

Thanks

Understand that one, I live in Michigan. The dynamat really helped, also killed a lot of noise. About the only time we notice the heat is when outdoor temps are in the 90's. Winter time is nice! LOL

Would reflectix stuck to the inside of the cover reduce sound or is it so hot under there it would melt?

many here have used Dyna Mat under the dog house [hood] for both noise and heat .. work good but IMHO not good enough , I'll be adding all area under seating [both sides] and any surface area that I can with heat reflector and sound deadener on my XTZ .. I found some longer rolls of a similar material to Dyna Mat to do this with at the Dyna Mat site.

as to insulated console , believe that is far enough ahead of the heat source , it wouldn't make much sense .. personal opinion here

name is Gary or hey you if ya forget

2009 Prowler XTZ , couple things added here and there
'83 CJ7 / SBC + whole lot added here and there
'01 Dodge / Cummins / Dually, a ton of stuff added here and there

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEWBIES ...
1. Bring in a good load of firewood for the pit
2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!
3. sit a spell and swap some lies with the best of us
