Opinions on 2012 Prowler 700 HDX with 500 miles

I have a buddy selling his 2012 Prowler 700 HDX with 500 miles with a blade. Anyone have any feedback on this machine?

Welcome to the site, there's several HDX owners on here who are happy with their rigs, they should be on soon and answer your questions.

only thing I would be leary of is the belt and clutch condition , IF he plowed in high range [v/s low gear] he would have caused severe wear on those two area's ... other than that a 500 mile machine would be a low mile low risk buy. if the price is in normal range.

name is Gary or hey you if ya forget

2009 Prowler XTZ , couple things added here and there
'83 CJ7 / SBC + whole lot added here and there
'01 Dodge / Cummins / Dually, a ton of stuff added here and there

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEWBIES ...
1. Bring in a good load of firewood for the pit
2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!
3. sit a spell and swap some lies with the best of us

I don't follow resale so no help here , there are guys here who have bought on the used market and would be a better source of info.

I still have my original 2009 model with great service from it.

you don't mention where your at location wise , maybe a call to a local dealer could advise as to resale pricing price spreads .... or hang loose for a member reply

The machine is solid. The 700 has been a part of the AC line up since 2008 so its a solid motor. The transmissions are some of the best in the ATV market for utility use. However a used machine is only good idea if it was well taken care of.

Since it's from a friend I would assume he wouldn't sell it to you if it has injested water. Also look for the following rust, dents to frame or rollcage, leaks and mud up in places it really shouldn't be. Additionally oil changes and gear oil changes.

Price seems good for mid-west if the condition is above average to excellent.

they are one heck of a machine. i use mine for hay work and play. just clicked off over 7k miles earlier this year.
it seems that the hdx has different clutching from the prowler (i may be wrong on this) but i have had some serious pulling done with this thing and im still on my original belt. 500 miles with a plow i dont think i would worry much about.
the major issue with mine was the motor ingested dirt at about 1300 miles. i caught it in time but it has burned about a quart of oil every 100 miles since. i ended up re-routing the intake to the front of my rig. now instead of checking my air cleaner every 50 to 100 miles and changing it out every 200, i do it once a year.
7000 is right in the lower end of the price range and is a pretty dang good deal for a ride with 500 miles.

I would say that is a pretty fair price. Country Cat has a used 2013 with 1600 miles for 8000. https://www.countrycat.com/used-2013...r-700-hdx-blue

Edit:
Also, 500 miles is hardly broken in. Because it is 5 years old now you will probably want to check the oil and brake fluid to see if they have collected any moisture. Changing them might be a good idea. Country Cat usually has a good deal on shipping and since you are in Iowa parts should arrive in very short order. Their prices on oil and filters have been the best I have found. Additionally, as cat_crazy mentioned, you will want to reroute the pre-filter for the air cleaner. It is standard practice at Country Cat. If you want to know how to do it, just give them a call and I am sure they would be happy to help you out.
