2011 HDX 700 Oil in Clutch Repair

I just wanted to post some pics of the fun I've been having. I have an oil leak in my clutch cover that I am currently in the process of resolving. Any of you guys with an HDX know that getting the primary nut off with a regular impact is next to impossible, being that there is a frame section in the way. After searching the net and reading the hype as to how much the special tool from Arctic Cat would be to do the job, I got a little nervous. I finally found it, and to my delight it was under 40 bucks. It happens to about the best 40 bucks I have ever spent.

Arctic Cat Part Number :0444-240

I think my issue is some leaking gaskets and seals, everything else looks good. The one way bearing is making a one trip to the trash even though it looks good.

You should notice a big difference without that one way bearing. I love the difference in blading without it. My oil leak was from the notorious
O-Ring, part #0470-531 $3.95 Good time to toss in a EPI clutch kit, too! I need to buy that tool, yet. Happy wrenching!!!

'09 650XT H1, 72" Eagle Plow, Warn 3500 Winch. Dyna CDI box, UNI filters, A/C V-bag and console, EPI lift kit, Highlifter springs, Scat ProCar suspension seats. Rick the Rockets A frame and shock bushings. 28x12X14 Raceline Bruisers on Vision rims, on all corners. Cowling heat vents. Factory heat and defrost. RD's custom alternator kit. XTZ hood scoop and front shocks. Monster shock covers, turn signals. OEM glass sport windshield, sliding rear window, and lights, lights and more lights!

That is a nice looking tool. Probably pick one up the next time I have to get into CVT work.

Your oil problem isn't uncommon, not sure why but replace the o ring like already mentioned. I liked the removal of the one way, you probably will too.

Update and done.

I just wanted to post a few more pics of the repair. Before trying to fix the machine I struggled to find some decent details of working on the HDX. What I figured out is that what works with many machines are a challenge with this one.

I also have some pics of the seal installation tool.

I didn't put a clutch kit in it, just got it back together with all new seals, bearing, belt and rollers.
