Glowing Exhaust Pipe

I had my engine cover off the other night tightening an oil cooler hose clamp to stop an oil leak and noticed the exhaust pipe glowing near the head under the heat shield. Is it normal for the pipe to glow from heat while idling?

Yeah, I was one of the ones talking about that, but mine was only glowing red from being run at high speed, in a sand wash, with heavy tires, full throttle for a couple of miles.
Never had one glow at idle though or under no load conditions.
Sounds like you need to check the spark arrestor on the muffler and clean it. If that is plugged, it will hold exhaust gases right at the headpipe, causing it to over heat.
