synthetic gear oil

I found a couple quarts of mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90 and want to put it in my diffs. Has anyone ever used this in there diffs and is it ok?
Also this stuff has been sitting in the basement since I owned my MR2 turbo, probably 12 years or so, I assume its still ok?

I put lucas syn in my diffs after 100 miles. I got 800+ now with no probs but I don't think I would use any oil that old.

Good point, I guess the only problem that it could have is if condensation got into the bottles.

I don't know about syn. oil but reg oil is supposed to break down after 3 months even if you don't use it. Syn oil may be diff but why chance it. I think 1 qt. will do both diffs.

1 qt will do more like 2 service's on both diffs. make sure the oil is one inch below the fill. Alene wrench works great

That is what I have been using is mobile 1 in my diffs and I can say that when I take them apart and inspect everything looks really good. I would pass on that stuff though being that old.
