1 thing after another xtz conversion

Wow this 1000 conversion is not for the faint of heart.

This will test my patients, skills and my marriage.

Got my motor and built motor mount tabs and have the cross brace's tacked in place.
All marked out where the mount's will set.

To find out the frame needs cut and width expanded where the clutch cover is.
As it is touching and still needs to come over to pass side another inch.

Sorry just had to vent as it is another 1/2day set back.

Always something on these big job's.

Oh yea and then the shifter mount and cousoul with the 2 throttle body conversion is gonna be FUN.

Trying to decide on brakes as well.
The 650 rear is just the driveline brake which looks like I can make work.
Just thinking of going to the disk on ea. tire.
Which looks like another $500 + in parts.......

OH well were having fun now!

It will all be worth it the first time you fire it.

You saying the oem brakes suck on your xtz?

I am thinking the 650 driveline brake would work better than brakes @ the tire due to being gear reducted through the diff.
Some trucks and Most equipment use driveline brakes.

Please elaborate on the performance machine calipers and a link if you would please.

Yeah I know just tough right now figuring it all out and my 2yr. old has been sick for 4days now. So it is hard to get into the garage for any lenght of time. Oh yea and I am working 12hr shift on nights.

The fun I get myself into.
The build is just as fun as driving just very trying sometimes.

Thanks for the words of encouragement that is what I was looking for

Well that was just the firing part. Just wait till you bury your foot in it.
I had about 40 hours in my swap. And that included a custom aluminum fuel cell that goes where the stock tank used to. It was all worth it and then some.
If it were me I would use the drive line brake set up. It is lighter. And they work just fine. Plus it is less un sprung weight.

Yes original driveline brake. Works good. I am so anal about weight though I installed a front caliper to get rid of the heavier stock rear one. It did not save that much weight but I ordered some brake pads from a online parts place and instead of sending me just brake pads they sent me two new front calipers and pads. I know I should have sent it back and been honest but I just did not want to deal with it. I used to have a drive line alternator too. 100 amp one wire one. It turned on at about 26 mph and would stay on down to about 10 mph.

So you fabbed up your own mounting bracket for mounting the front caliper.

The xtz diff puts the caliper on the bottom and the brake line will need the banjo fitting tweeked or changed out as it looks like a chaffing concern in the long run.
