Question Diff lock always engaged

On my 08 Prowler XT the diff lock seems to be always engaged. What are the switches diff lock and override for?

Diff lock switch or manual knob lock will lock the front diff and make it posi AKA live axle or locked differential. Override is for reverse, it alllowes you to override the speed limiter.

Isn't your diff lock cable operated? Probably needs adjusted at the diff.

Thanks for the reply's. Seems to me the switch "DIFF LOCK PULL" applies then only to the front axle? Is the rear diff always locked?

When in 4wd I presume all diff's are locked. If the diff lock pull switch when in 4wd is pulled, based on what you're saying, the front axle diff will be not be in diff lock? Have I got it right or is it the reverse?

Dont be confused by the "DIFF LOCK" and 4wd. You press the electronic 4wd if you want power to all 4. You then have the option to press "DIFF LOCK" if desired. I would only recommend the DIFF LOCK option if you are in some deep mud and stuck.

Correct me if I am wrong but the rear is always locked unless you have a machine with Turf Mode.

The rear diff is always locked. Unless you have the turf saver rear end? So my guess is yours is always locked.

Some models have cable or electric diff lock. Diff lock only locks the front axle and should only put in when the Prowler is sitting still. The 650's have a live rear axle AKA posi trac. Other models have a turf saver which is like your pick up rear axle. It allows the outside wheel to spin faster than the inside.

When you engage 4X4 the the front diff will apply power to both wheels how every they are not locked like a live axle until you engage the diff lock and now you have true 4X4.

Thank you all for your helpful information. I now understand the set-up. I drive a lot on asphalt (it's legal here in Mexico to drive in town and on the hwy) where a "turf saver' rear end would be advantageous.
