Speedo/odo quit?

Last fall, my speedo quit working. It started out by bouncing erratically for a few miles and then quit altogether, along with odometer. I know there is a speed sensor off of the tranny. There is also a potential of a loose plug on the back of the dash. If I switch to tach, it works fine. Has anyone experienced this? It is an 09 XTZ1000.

I would say just clean and check your connections, and ground connections, but with your tach working makes me wonder if your panel just hasnt went bad.has it got water in it before.

I bought it last spring with 650 miles and I knew the previous owner so I am pretty sure the mileage is accurate. I had around 1200-1300 miles total when the odo/speedo quit. It hasn't been in deep water since I got it. Its been -20 at night for 2 weeks and I don't have heat in my shop, so I haven't been too serious about it yet....
