I think you can get parts for them. I have never had issues so this would be a new one for me too.

What year? i have a 2010 and no, you can't take them apart to fix them. I took a look inside of mine and when they start working you pretty much need to get a new one. you can't buy inside parts only the whole actuator which isn't cheap but the new ones are way better.

is this switch somewhat like the the one we have on the XTZ .. a switch within a switch ?

if so they are a POS switch , especially when hands are wet or have snow or gloves on them .. on mine ya need to be de-gloved so you can use your fingernail to move the small inner switch and that may or may not activate the lock ... several times I have had to redo the action several times .. on a couple occasions I said F it and just used the great power of the 1000 and went on my way slipping n sliding ... haven't figured out a better way to go around the factory's set up with a second switch or better said a pair of switches.

name is Gary or hey you if ya forget

2009 Prowler XTZ , couple things added here and there
'83 CJ7 / SBC + whole lot added here and there
'01 Dodge / Cummins / Dually, a ton of stuff added here and there

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEWBIES ...
1. Bring in a good load of firewood for the pit
2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!
3. sit a spell and swap some lies with the best of us

haven't saw one on a xtz ithink the motor just runs one way in 2wheel and the outher way in 4 wheel i think the little contro board in them makes the motor run one way for 2 wheel and the outher for 4 wheel all it dose is push the little plunger in from what i can tell

there is a small lil switch in the center of the 2 / 4 way switch that is the 4 lock switch and has to be pulled down to activate the lock while switching into 4wheel ... it's small and a PIA to use / make sure your locked in the 4 wheel drive
