sled talk

I figured because you guys are getting snow I can talk about my sled. Since it is an Arctic Cat Made in the USA not like BRP or poolaris made in mexico.
I love this machine it's been great to me not just good but great. So I just wanted to improve handle bar position so it would be easier to control over bumps when I stand. So I when to my friend ebay. I found a sno pro riser which is 5.75" tall. My stock riser is 3.5" tall. I bought it they shipped it my wife and I went down today and picked it up. Treated my wife to dinner and went home. So here in Canada the riser is 215 bucks plus 12% tax. I got it on ebay for 39.00 plus free shipping to the border and no tax. Altogether it was 39.00 for the riser 5 bucks at parcel pick up 20 bucks for dinner and 20 bucks worth of gas and 3 hours of my time. So for under 100bucks I got improved handling on my sled. I am not going to buy a new sled any time soon so why not just improve it. The new sleds are having way to many problems for my liking. big recalls on 2012 and 2013 cats coming again. there replacing clutches, bearing, motor mounts they tell me about 2g's worth of parts. no thanks

New is nice, but not always better! I looked at new prowlers, and compared them to what I got, and decided I can keep making mine better, plus enjoying the process! Stay safe, and enjoy your rides!....................RD

RD,I couldn't agree any more,in 2009 I almost bought a new prowler but changed my mind.the trade in value on mine was next to nothing at the time, it only had 600 miles, and the fact they wanted almost 14000 for what I wanted, not including the extras I would have put on it.and last week I was over at the articcat shop looking at the new ones, and I believe what I have now is just as nice as a new one,the new ones aren't much different than my 06 and any upgrade on the new ones I can do to mine plus some.plus mines paid for.

Low Oil Pressure indicator, draw my attention to the gauge if I lose oil pressure, you know how it gets riding trails, you seldom get a chance to look anywhere but where your going!

Wow, isn't that the truth. I wish it made a hell of a racket just to get you to look. Even on the ATV's my son has blown up three engines due to temp/oil issues. Maybe a spring loaded boxing glove to pop out of dash and jack you one in the chin might be the answer??? Who know? Don't care what kind of vehicle it is, if you grenade the engine, you're gonna write a big check.

Have a great day!!!

Autometer makes a directional warning lite, I have one on my drag car. It gets your attention! Mounting on an ATV might pose a problem, but on a Prowler it would fit on the dash.
