drivetrain issues

I have a 2010 XTZ 1000 with 2'' lift 28" swamp lites and epi clutch kit. my issue is I was stuck in some thick mud and while trying to pull the machine out I heard some nasty clicking and shut it down. I let it cool and and restarted it and it sounded ok until I tried reverse, it moves but sounds horrible like grinding metal. I was able to drive it forward the 2 miles back to the truck but the drive train didnt sound good and when coasting down a hill it sounds like a coffee can full of rocks rolling down a hill and grinds. I now have a wet oil mark around the drivers side input to the diff at the axle. One would assume that I toasted a rear diff, but I have crank case oil leaking from my skid plate. Not a lot of oil and it has stoped leaking as it sits on the trailer. I am hoping the engine oil was pushed out a breather or something due to heat from trying to get unstuck but I am not sure. I fired this up today and the engine sounds normal and in (N) I can reve it and it sounds ok maybe a little loaded up. Any one ever have any of these issues and or any input offered would be great!!!!! Thanks

Welcome aboard,I would put it up on some jack stands, and see for sure where your noise is coming from, dont know a lot about the 1000 motors,or where the weak spots are.I know you have a spike load dampner in the rear diff. Also pull the skid off and see where the oil is coming from.

welcome to the house .... suggest you drain some fluids and start there after inspections .. but my guess at this point would also be the rear end or belt or clutch or or or sorry my humor isn't needed here.

name is Gary or hey you if ya forget

2009 Prowler XTZ , couple things added here and there
'83 CJ7 / SBC + whole lot added here and there
'01 Dodge / Cummins / Dually, a ton of stuff added here and there

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEWBIES ...
1. Bring in a good load of firewood for the pit
2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!
3. sit a spell and swap some lies with the best of us

Sorry to hear about your issues.

Start here and do a few searches on this problem. When I have more time and I am not on the road I can try and help troubleshoot your problem.

trans is trashed

I have major gear damage, the reverse gear is destroyed and not sure why. I have read that some of these have an oil or lack of issue so that may have been the issue but I am out of Warr. so this one is gonna cost me a fortune! I will keep everyone posted as I get more info, I took it to the dealer. I just dont have the time to or knowledge to tear the trans apart. thanks for all the input
