Fuel Pump Noise

Went for a ride and noticed a second sound like the fan coming from under passenger seat, the fuel pump is making some serious noise. Still had 3 gallons of fuel in tank. Has anyone had a fuel pump fail?

What prowler do you have, mines a carb prowler and the fuel pump does make a noise but mine doesn't sound like a fan, mine makes a ticking noise which is normal because it is vac operated.7 years old never replaced........If you get a chance fill out your signature so we know what you ride,Thanks.

I had to replace my fuel pump. Cost about 600usd but it went to the vendor's expense. it did not produce enough pressure. There wasnt any strange noise in that tired pump.

Noise has gone away with full tank of fuel but will keep an eye on it. The sound was like a second fan running only louder. Spooked me when I traced to fuel tank.

Have not figured out how to fill in signature or avitar, this site is difficult to navigate compared to others with similar format.

After extensive research about fuel pump issues the word is the noise comes on after long rides obviously fuel pump over heating when fuel level gets down to 1/4 tank or less, some do most don't. AC may cover warranty but depends on how old (6 months or less).
There are some after market pumps that will do the trick for $50 so if problem goes that far I will buy an aftermarket pump or make one fit cause $600 is retarded and down right criminal for a fuel pump especially when almost every vechicle out there is running EFI.
Wish I would have done more research before purchasing Prowler good chance I would have bought something else like a Yamaha. Being a loyal Cat fan I have to say Cat needs to have a customer complaint department that is tied to engineering or at least pay attention to these chat boards and fix next year models. Admit that humans are crazy so many problems can be attributed to abuse but there are so many issues with prowlers I have to believe I will experience issues down the road.
