Post 2008 Prowler Steering Issues

Hi Everybody, I've recently bought a 2008 Prowler leftover, rides good and everything. This is my first experience with a side by side, the biggest issue I have at the moment is that the steering appears to be slugish especially in rough terrain where you need to swing steering in all directions to remain in contol. I've found that looking at the mounting plate bolted to the rack and pinion there was some give to it and shoultd have been mounted to the frame instead to the gear housing.

Do you know how this can be corrected other that doing my own modifications.

Thank you all !

I think someone has modified theirs when they upgraded their rack. Someone should post up some information.

I'd like to have photos to show how to correct this problem.
I'll wait and see if someone can come up with an idea. Thanks.

yes i have alot of time with this. I had the unisteer Rackzilla installed on my XTZ. It worked very good, but the mounting plate , as you refer to is to weak. The first time i took it out, with the new rack and power steering i shredded it. I ended up Making a new one. it was not as hard as you would think. i just took a small grinder and cut the old one out. It was only tack welded in so that wasnt to bad. I took it to a machine shop and had one made out of 3/16 plate , the stock one was 1/8 inch. They bent it just like the stock one. I layed the stock one over and drilled to match. Welded new one in, only put fireproof blanket between front diff, thats asbestos in some places. The new one works great ,no play .

By the way, when you have this stock plate out it is a good time to do your front diff vent. It is a real b----tch to get to when bracket is in place.
