Must admit I was truly impressed with test drive down street.......our main focus for use is split between mountains/desert/and pismo or dumont.....thanks for any suggestions or advice

Welcome to the forum. There are no silly questions. A riding lawn mower would be an upgrade from a Rhion. Ha Ha. The XTZ sounds like a good deal. PM the Vin to Darrly and see if it has all the warranty updates.

Excellent machine. As for mods and such, the sky is the limit. I would say drive it for a while and then decide what you want to do. Tires are always a good starting point on any OEM machine. Maxxis Bighorn 2.0's are a great all around tire. For hard desert running and flat protection, ITP BajaCross tires are primo.
Next would be suspension, these machines really shine with a good set of King or Fox shocks. Lots of options to choose from though, best to talk with one of us that runs aftermarket shocks and see what works best for your riding.
Another great mod is clutch work such as Airdam's work. Really turns the performance up.
And then the biggie, seat lowering. Lowering your seats 4 inches changes the ride feel from a tractor to a corvette...big difference.
I left the cage for last since seat height and ride style can decide what cage you do.

As for service updates, I or any other AC dealer can take your serial number and check it for whether it's received service updates such as the water pump seals. $12,200 doesn't sound bad for 50 miles, but I bet you could even get them lower. Perhaps $11,500.
There are some good deals out there. One member here was selling his XTZ fairly cheap. But it has more miles and use.
Any questions you have on the XTZ, this is the best place to ask them. These guys are awesome and have tons of experience with them. Several of us race them in desert terrain and can tell you what works in the desert and what doesn't.
Welcome to the forum.

Arctic Cat Prowler Desert Race XTZ: ITP BajaCross tires on ITP Beadlocks, Beard Super TZ Seats, Crowe 5pt harnesses, King Off-Road Racing Shocks, Custom Racing Chassis with 7 inch longer wheelbase, +5 Suspension set at 16 Front and 17 inches Rear inches travel, UTVINC did the tube bending
