New Rig,

Morning .......I just got a 2016 700 HDX the original owner cooked the motor and a new one was installed, the motor has 2 hours on it so need to break it in, the book says not to exceed 1/2 throttle for the first month of running my question is what RPM range would be 1/2 throttle?? want to do things right, the original owner killed it in 790 miles and 39 total hours, don;t want to make his mistakes !!! Hey Jim .. don't think that many drive by the tac , just floor it and move foot back LOL

but IMHO the previous owner either lugged it in high range for long distances [but that would usually kill the belt not an engine] or ran it out of oil or water .. best not to keep it in same RPM , vary it for a while .. these are tuff machines and will take abuse but use first gear in long runs at low speed or pulling heavy or snow plowing [a must in plow use] IF you want belt life

2. start the morning coffee , strong but not burnt / boiled down , IMPORTANT start it early as many of us old farts get up early !!

With my new motor's I limit RPM to 4,000. Vary the speeds and RPM as well. These things break in quickly due to being a roller bearing motor, ring seal is about all you need to watch. Factory redline is 7,300 RPM BTW!

Thanks, As this thing has been all set up by someone else and there isn't much that would need to be added about all I am left with is wheel spacers, am thinking about 2" ones then going up a size or 2 when the stock tires need replacing, do you know of any problems using them? It's going in this Fri to my buddys shop he is going to relocate the pre stage air cleaner to under the hood, he will be doing all my service work, mechanic, machinist and fabricator the way his shop is setup there isn't much he and his guys can't do, a good guy to know as I have never had an ATV or UTV before, I know I will have bunch more new guy question for here, sure appreciate the help .....

I use 1 1/2" wheel spacers on the rear only. I like to get the rear tires out of the fronts track. They do add some strain to the outer CV joints, and wheel bearings, but I have never had any issues. 2" spacers are the max that I'd recommend! Moving the pre-filter is a good move! I like mine where I can see it without removing anything! Prowlers are a pretty easy machine to learn and work on. The service manuals are spot on!

2" spacers on the rear only for me. It put the rear tires pretty much right in line with the front tires. I put a pair on the front and it looked strange with the tires out so much further than the rears. Plus, it rubbed terrible, even with almost 4" of lift. I also do not run a rear stabilizer. It helped out the ride, a lot. Good luck with the new ride. They are fun to mess with!
