Questions from kansas

Hello all!
I just purchased a "2008 prowler 700" o.k. using quotes because I'm not sure exactly what I bought. The hood has the 700xdx efi sticker on it, but this thing is clearly carburated. I was told it was carburated when I bought it. It was a good deal as far as I'm concerned none the less. I'm not finding info on 700carbs, but I am for 650. which leads me to believe my prowler has had a hood swap. Can anyone please confirm that there is no 700 with a carb. I also have a 2014 wildcat trail that is a 700 fuel infection. I know they are not the same. I look forward to reading what experienced prowler owners have to discuss throughout the site. Thanks

You would be correct! The XDX was a 2011 and later model. You have a 650 H1. The only other 2008 is the 700 and it has the TB injection. Nothing at all wrong with the 650, love mine! I think the carb model is easier to diagnose and work on, to tell ya the truth. No sensors to screw with! Enjoy it!!!

Thank you Bryan! It's good to have my suspicion confirmed. I hate messing with carbs, we have never got along. I ordered a new plug and air filter. I will put those on and change the oil and then take it to a local small engine guru to have it tuned. I don't know what top speed is supposed to be, but I'm hoping it's more then 30mph.

It's a XTX sticker not XDX. Ill have to look up the difference, either way it's wrong.

Don't think there is a XDX, they made a 700 XTX and HDX, the HDX has a 3 person bench seat and a bigger bed. Your top speed should be around 45-50 mph depending on tire size and if they did clutch changes.

Hey Christopher........welcome to the site!! Best Prowler site bar none!!! It would be great if you'd fill in your profile a bit, it's fun to know what people have and where they hail from. A lot of years ago my home away from home for half a year was in SW Kansas/OK panhandle ......Liberal/Guymon & area. What part of the state are ya all from?

Don't hesitate to post and ask questions........lots of knowledge held here by so many and they are all willing to share and help out.

2008 had two models the XT with a carbed 650, or the New (in 2008) 700 XTX. If you have a locked rear end, then I'd guess a 650 with a different hood as you suspect. The XTX came with a 700, EFI, and a turf saver rear end (which only ran until 2010)

2009 700EFI XTX, , AC Winch, 2010 Dust Shield EPI Sport Utility Clutch Kit , Street Legal, Cage chopped 2 ", Aluminum Diamond Plate Trim, Relocated Factory Bladders with covers, 5 Pt. Tonneau cover. 750 Big Bore Kit, Web Cam, and Rocker Arms.

I was at 50 until I put on the bigger tires and the EPI clutch kit, now I'm at about 40-45. Lost 1200 rpm's with that damn clutch kit! But man, does it have balls off the line!

Bryan.........curious as to which EPI clutch kit you have? The sport utility, or Mudder, or Sand Dune? I'm thinking of putting on the Sport for my 28" Swamp Lite's.

I did the sport utility. called EPI due to the lost RPM and he said to drive it, the belt needs to loosen up. Well, I must have bought a hell of a good belt, because almost 250 miles later, no change. I'm not really to worried about it, to tell ya the truth.
Fairmont79 and Paxx like this.
