Question First Timer

Any recommendations for maintenance for a newly purchased 2008 Prowler/XT UTV with 1900 miles that has never been to the mechanic. The prior owner never did anything to it except put gas in it. Never been raced. Gears are hard to seat and theres a strange noise when brakes are applied. Recommendations anyone (other than) take it to the dealership?

drop all the fluids and add new, get it off the ground and check the wheel bearings and ball joints, boots, hard shifting might be the linkage needs adjustment

yote killer is right on, change out your fluids, check it over well.

Adjust your linkage, several threads in here on how to do it.

Also the braking noise is pretty common on the cats if it's the chattering sound.

Welcome to the site. The brake noise is a warped rear rotor.
Check the belt for service life before that one leaves you stranded.
Check the valve adjustment soon.
Check the steering shaft where it passes next to the upright just under the front trunk. You should see it rubbing the frame at the upright. If it is how bad is it? I fit is bad enough to rub through the steering tube eventually it should be addressed. If not just watch it from time to time.
