Tread Lightly! Arizona Trail Clean Up - Help Needed

We need your help!

Discount Tire and TreadLightly! have joined together for a stewardship event to clean up the Table Mesa Recreation Area. Help us keep target shooting and OHV areas open for continued use.

Every Volunteer Counts!

Please bring water, work gloves, hat, sunscreen, trash pinchers, buckets and wear long pants and sturdy shoes. 4WD and OHV vehicles are useful.

  • When: Sunday, March 1st, 2015

  • Time: 9:00am - 2:00pm (check in starts at 8:00am)
    Lunch will be provided!

  • Where: Table Mesa Recreational Area (North of Phoenix, Arizona)

  • RSVP:[email protected] or sign up online Tread Lightly! Table Mesa Clean Up

  • Directions: The Table Mesa Recreation Area is located off I-17 and Table Mesa Road. Head west on Table Mesa Road, then north on the frontage road. Follow signs posted at the end of the pavement. Volunteers will also be on site providing more information and directions.

Location Map: Staging Area

Additional Information:
The area is very popular with recreational target shooters, off-highway vehicle riders, equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, and others because of its close proximity to the metropolitan Phoenix area. Unfortunately, this area is also prone to illegal dumping, littering, and debris that needs to be cleaned up. As public agency budgets fade, volunteerism becomes even more important.

Thank you to these partners in education and stewardship for supporting this effort!

I have been reading lately where a lot of riding trail's are having trouble with lots of trash being left along the trails.....There is no excuse for it.......but I think the more riders you have the more trash that will be left.

2015 A/C Sport,With a few add ons..........

What we bring we own, and we take it home with us, always carry a trash/litter bag! Most of the trails have trash cans at the parking/staging areas. We do notice a lot of beer cans!

I planted one of those cans a couple of years in the yard and now I have a beautiful 3 foot pile growing there

Update:

We had a great time at this event even though it rained.

Big thanks to all of the (over 250 volunteers and co-sponsors). Together we removed more than 10 tons of trash from the area. If you helped and shared any photos to your social media accounts please tag them with. #tablemesacleanup

We have two more projects similar to this in Moab this year. Please contact TreadLightly for more information.

Here's a pretty cool video from the Table Mesa Clean up.
