Has anybody had problems with the crank on there 700?Mine has 2000 miles on it no hot rodding or mods mostly farm use picking rock ect. and the crank siezed up mains and big end.Full of oil in fact i just changed it about 100 miles ago.And is there anyplace you can buy a rebuilt one?

Man I feel bad for you. Thats a serious part to fail. Have you ran synthetic oil as required? Have you ever got water in the crankcase? You may try Country Cat for a price less than your dealer. I have never heard of rebuilt parts for these things unless someone does the rebuilding themselves. Good Luck.

I have seen a few issues where dirt got through the filter because of someone not oiling it and this happened. The other problems were caused by running the bike out of oil then it takes out everything. Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Has had nothing but cat oil and filters on and in it since new.Ya it sucks sort of like loosing an extra set of hands at times.Filters are clean have one on hand because of the dirt problem no water has ever been injested into it never been run out of oil guess somebody has to have the luck.

If anything was ingested through the air filter, the top end would show unusual wear/damage.
It sounds like all that happened was bottom end troubles? Very strange. Normally this would be associated with lack of oil, what are you using for oil?
It sucks man, wish I could be more help. The worst thing is just repairing and NOT knowing why it went down in the first place.

700 crankshaft

Well finally got the engine apart and the big end was the only part siezed up.Don't really see anything that looks to be the culprit i have a good friend who works for an arctic cat dealer ship as a mechanic and he is going to help me look for the demon.But as luck would have it he also just took a complete motor out of a 700 xtx that had be emersed in a creek over night the insurance bought them a brand new motor because of the silt issues in the water and he gave it to me,so tonight I tore it apart and there was nothing wrong with it so my delema is over as far as the money issue for parts.any way thanks for all your input on the matter.Wayne:)

Mine did the same @210 hrs replaced the oil pump for good measure and installed a gauge. Running cat synthetic oil the oil pressure starts out around 60 psi but drops below twenty when warmed up good. has an oil cooler but I am thinking it should be moved in front of the rad. Any other ideas?

Another thing put a snorkle on it. mine runs alot cleaner drawing air from top of the cab instead of dirt and straw from in front of the wheel another engineering wonder.

Yes I will be putting on another air flter .Up here they have been running a tube up to the front of the machine inside of the storage area on the left side and have been having good luck with it.Seems that the computer will learn the intake distance and compensate for it wth no problems so far.

I was cleaning my air filter approx every 50 miles (!!!) and then I snorkled it and now I do it approx every 250-500 miles, depending on conditions, and even then it's usually pretty darn clean! Ya gotta wonder which engineer had his head up his a** when he designed that setup! LOL

Well got the beast running and it sounds good.New piston and rings borrowed crank from another 700 new oil pump there a piece of cake to overhaul.Where does a person put an oil gauge fitting on them?Cost approx. 300.00 better then 1100.00.Thanks guys for all the help.
