I just swapped out my 06 for an 07. Picked up a rebuild from Power Sports Nation and they stated it would fit 06-09, if that helps. Not sure how different the 05 is but they answered a few questions I had over the phone so it might be worth a call. They see a lot of UTV's (402) 371-7002
2005 Arctic Cat 650 H1 Engine Swap
I'm new to the board, but have spent the last several days reading any article I could find regarding engine swaps / replacements. I have an opportunity to buy a 2005 650 H1 UTV that is perfect with exception of the hole in the engine case thanks to the bevel gear. The machine only has 250 miles on it, so I'm not sure how that happened, but anyway.
All the engine swaps I've read about so far are for the 2007 and newer UTV's. Am I locked into finding an engine (or engine case) from an 05/06 year or do other years work as well. I am comfortable rebuilding engines, so swapping cases is not much of an issue, but if a larger motor will bolt in without many modifications then why not.
The third option is to pass on the deal, but for $600 it seems like i really can't go wrong. I welcome your thoughts.

Thank you. I've read every article I can find and it seems like all the discussion revolve around the newer v2 engines. The build date on the prowler is 08/05, so maybe it's actually an 06 model? All of parts houses show 2002, then skip years 2003 - 2005 and pick up again in 2006. I mean I like a good challenge, but not when it comes to locating engine cases...
