What do y'all think about the fuel pressure regulator being the problem? I put the old pump back in it and it shows 7 psi. I'm think the regulator is letting the fuel get dumped back into the tank causing it to have low fuel pressure.

Looked at it today. I decided to put the fuel pump housing in a bucket of gas and see what was going on. Fuel was spraying all around the fuel pressure regulator and after inspection one of the o-ring gaskets had blew out. I replaced the gaskets and now it it is no longer spraying around the regulator but it is dumping all the fuel out of the little vent tube that runs out of the back side of the regulator. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Not sure what you are talking about, can you attach a picture? This is one thing on my Prowler (2009 XTX) that I've never looked at in depth! Surprising Ain't it! LOL

Most fuel pressure regulators have a diaphragm and vacuum line coming off the back, so the fuel has a place to go when the diaphragm goes bad. That would dump the fuel back into the intake manifold and cause a hard start, fuel fouled plug condition, in the late model GM's I was working on. I suppose it could be routed back into the fuel system, to head off flooding the cylinder on these things. You may have found the problem. I would replace it.

Thanks Tyler! So the regulator just dumps excess fuel pressure back in the tank. AC (other brands also) should market service packs on some of there stuff, but they would rather sell complete assemblies at our expense! Let us know your source and results! Thanks

Great new guys, new regulator came in and it fired right up. Runs perfect, not a spit or spudder. Thanks for all the help! If anyone ever has similar problems I suggest watching your fuel pump in action from a 5 gallon bucket of gas. All in all, I had to spend around 100 bucks to get it back up and going so it didn't break the bank! Thanks again for all the great suggestions!

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I have a 2009 arctic cat prowler 700 xtx efi. Looks like fuel is being dumped back in the tank. It's hard to start and if it does it don't run long then dies. I was trying to find out where to get a fuel regulator. My pump # is 0570-281. If anyone can help.
