Having some trouble understanding if my rear diff is acting up or if it’s just designed this way.

Bought this machine used and it doesn’t corner well and shreds the lawn when turning. It also leaves awful black skid marks on my blacktop driveway.

It behaves like it’s a solid rear axle. I looked up the parts diagram for this model and, unless there is a clutch built into the rear ring gear, there is no mechanism to let one wheel slip when cornering.

what are my options?

I think that's the way the XTZ's are, the 700 XTX had a turf saver rear diff that was much easier on grass from what I've read. My old 2007 650XT is like yours, it can tear up a yard. I was plowing a few years ago and didn't take the extra weight out of the bed, I was turning sharp on dry concrete and broke a rear axle, too much weight for the tire to slip.

This is such a disappointment. It blows my mind that this thing can do 60 miles an hour, but the rear diff has no mechanism to allow it to corner.
Anyone else want to weigh in on this one?

almost None of the sport SXS have a "unlockable" rear diff ( RZR in the past had it on a VERY select few trim levels)

Here is a quick breakdown of the UTV market for machines built in the last 5 or 6 years
Polaris Rangers 900 1000's and generals have turf mode (not sure on the HL models)
Can Am all Defenders have selectable rear locker , New commanders also
Yamaha None offered
Honda Only on pioneer 1000, 700 and 500 no unlock option
John Deere On the utility Gator yes, not available on the sport utility models
Textron/Arctic cat Prowler 800, stampede 900 models yes (havoc 1000 didn't) Prowler 700 XTX model around 2008 and 2009 had a "turf saver" diff. Good idea less than good execution. Had some quirky driving characteristics and needed to be well maintained etc so it wasn't very popular.
Kymco only on turf model that was only available for a year or 2 came with "turf tires"
