4wd wont engage? I can hear the solenoid engage when I lock it into 4wd then again with the locker, but no action, cant hear it grind or anything?

I just had an issue with mine earlier this month after sitting the majority of the winter. I pulled the switch out of the dash and cleaned the. It was a little dusty and that's it, no corrosion or rust.

Just a little dusting And that's all it took to make mine act up. If it is kicking in and right back out it may be the actuator. It doe
S not need to physically grind to be bad.

I can hear it engage, so It cant be the switch??? could you hear yours engage? I think its internal just afraid to admit it...LOL What does the solenoid actually do inside the diff ? could I have broken something in there?

omilon the actuator just engage's a pin into the diff to lock in 4-wheel drive,i'm real sure the pin is not broken raise the machine in the air and crawl under it and have someone work the switch,i think you can see the pin go in and out.if not the actuator might be bad and just not engaging the pin,............and the actuator is not serviceable........

Yes I could here it engage but once the switch lost connections in the switch it would also disengage as well.

Thanks guys, I will check it out tonight ! and let ya know how I made out.. I will clean and grease the switch first then go further if necessary Cheers.

I am not sure if you got yours figured out or not but my 2010 was doing the same thing. It would go into 4X4 but not lock the front up. I took it into a buddies shop yesterday and he found that the front seals were leaking and it got some grime and dirt built up around the lip of the axle where it slides into the diff and it was pushing the axle out far enough that the ring gear was not engaging the end of the axle. The gear and the axle did not show any signs of slipping or grinding, it was just no longer engaging. He cleaned it up and is putting the new seals in today and I should have a report back tonight or tomorrow to see if that took care of the issue.

He took a video of the actuator working and moving the ring gear and I cant believe that it only moves about 3/16" to engage the right axle. That does not seem like much meat to try and spin those tires.

I had that problem with the lock, turned out the axle wasn't staying clipped and it would slip out. I replaced the C-Clip and no more problems.

New C clips on order. Hope its ready to ride then I get home, I gotta square off against a couple Polaris 6X6's with some guys from work so I need that diff locking up so I can blow by them in the mud holes!

Those little C-Clips sure are a quick fix! I popped the right front on mine, so replaced the seal, new C-Clip and put it back together!
