My father bought a 2006 650 Prowler from one of his hunting buddies and has had problems with it not going into gear. He took it to a service dealer after he bought it to have it checked out and it ran good for a couple of hunting trips and now has the gear problems. When it is turned off there is no problem putting it into gear, however when it is started it feels like the gears are binding and will not go into any gear. I found out that high idle will cause this problem, however it does'nt seem to be idling to high. How can I check idle and what is it suppose to be? Is there anything else that can cause this? I would like to try and repair it myself for finacial reason. Thanks in advance for the help.

I thought the idle RPM is to be around 1250-1350 per AC's service manual. The idle adjustment is on a flexible adjustment screw.

Welcome to the site Paschal. Well it has a auto choke so it will probably idle fast till it is warm. Unless the choke is faulty it should idle down to 1200 or so. I had the best luck with mine at about 1100. You guys do see the tach right? If all else fails have him rock his body front and back while sitting in the seat and try and shift it then.
