Got a 2019 Prowler Pro XT and of the few times we've used it for long haul trips, we notice high heat from its front firewall (from RAD fan cooling) and high heat from its rear cabin (from its rear engine) firewall. Much more high heat than I was expecting. Especially during hot temp days...

Anyone install Heat Shield film on your UTV's firewalls? If yes, any tips you can share? thanks.

Update:

From Amazon, I received previously ordered heat shield 10mm thick materials. Also saving large chunks of cardboards to be used as future template. re: Create template and overlay template on the heat shield matting - like in the above video. I plan to template / install when my local temps gets above 10 C. It's currently too cold in my north region for its self adhesive backing to stick properly.... Slowly.... This DIY upgrade is getting done...

Weather was nice in my north region today - Good day to complete its inside cabin & outside rear firewall area.

Before change (factory build):

Automotive tire Steering wheel Vehicle Motor vehicle Bumper
Vehicle Motor vehicle Automotive tire Hood Automotive lighting
Automotive tire Hood Motor vehicle Vehicle Door

After change (with external caulking and foil tape):

Automotive lighting Hood Automotive tire Tire Vehicle
Fluid Liquid Water Tints and shades Rectangle

Seat gap area (between upper & lower seats):

Motor vehicle Automotive design Tints and shades Vehicle door Auto part
Automotive tire Motor vehicle Hood Automotive lighting Vehicle

Yes. Slow process.....

Update:

Today I added heat shield film (10 mm thickness) on the outside rear firewall area - between its tilt box and outside cabin wall. re:

Before upgrade (factory build):

Motor vehicle Hood Automotive tire Vehicle Automotive lighting
Motor vehicle Hood Vehicle Automotive tire Automotive design

After upgrade (with 10mm heat shield and foil taped its outer edges):

Wheel Automotive parking light Tire Vehicle Hood
Automotive tire Motor vehicle Automotive design Hood Bumper
Motor vehicle Automotive tire Automotive design Automotive exterior Automotive wheel system

If wondering... Will do same / similar on front firewall (outside and inside) soon. One phase at a time....

Update:

This morning I added heat shield film (10 mm thickness) on the inside firewall (under dash) area.

Before upgrade (factory build):
Automotive tire Motor vehicle Wood Automotive exterior Automotive wheel system
Motor vehicle Hood Automotive tire Automotive lighting Vehicle

After upgrade (heat shield, caulk the edges, then apply foil tape):
Automotive tire Tire Hood Motor vehicle Automotive design
Tire Hood Automotive tire Wheel Vehicle
Hood Automotive tire Motor vehicle Bumper Automotive exterior

Due to many complex components under the steering wheel area I was only able to apply heat shield to 80% of the inner cabin / under dash area.

Next phase? Cut / Apply heat shield film on the front outside firewall area - to reduce heat transfer from its front fan system.

I added insulation to my engine cover, it helped with heat but not noise so much which was what I was more concerned about. These old Prowlers are extremely loud in the passenger compartment.

Thanks for your reply mlh1962.

Since adding insulation to your Prowler did reduce heat inside the cabin's passenger side area it sounds like my DIY insulation upgrade to my Prowler Pro 800 "is a good thing". Since my 2019 Prowler Pro has factory low sounds, I'm more focused on inside cabin heat temp reduction (especially with its 3rd party soft cab). Heat reduction from its rear engine air roll back and heat reduction from its front blowing fan area. On a sad note..... It's now back to below freezing temps in my north woods region - which is too cold for foam insulation adhesive to stick properly. I'm unable to continue this mini-project (until temps get above 10 C / 50 F). More to come....
