Hi i was wondering if bead lock rims are worth the money never seen them or seen anyone up here running them. I'm gettin a set of pitbulls just wondering if i should borrow the extra money for bead locks.

I agree with desertcat they are heavy. I think most people use those when in rock crawling type situations where you would have to run really low air pressure.

I dont think they would have helped me when I messed up at the Dunes.

I run ITP Type 7 beadlocks on my race car and when I go to Moab. They are heavy, but sure are nice when you lower air pressure or when you hit a rock stepup at 50mph... keeps the tire where it should be.
But for standard trail running or duning, nah, regular rims work great.

from someone who cuts down tires for a past time, I only wish I had some bead locks to keep my tires on the rim after I cut one about half off, I would say YES to bead locks or carry a spare with you just in case.......sure beats the hell out of walking out.
