Hello everyone.. new to this forum! :)

I have an Artic Cat 650 Prowler.. I was wondering if anyone has done a 700 Big bore kit in a 650 Artic Cat before - and if you have had any lower end problems? Looking to do that to mine, and could use some feedback... Maybe some head work and a different cam also...

Thanks!

I had a big bore kit from speedwerx

I liked the kit and had no issues.

I would not recromend for a power upgrade as you can get better bang for buck.
If you need to rebuild anyway it is a very good option.

Appreciate your response, but you arent recommending for an upgrade.. so how do you get your bang for your buck? The cost of the upgrade isnt worth it?

We just sent the clutch out to get a Stage 4 clutch in it... and going to do a complete exhaust... so what else can I do to make it rip?

I sold a accel. pump carb. to a member before I could use it.
Maybe he will chime in on that upgrade.

You got clutches coming and exhaust, get a cdi then work on the intake side of things.

Motor swap. Go Rotax.
Not a very reassuring statement coming from an Arctic Cat guy  Are the AC motor and trannies no good? should I just go get a commander? lol

For the most part the 650 motor is ok. Some of the early ones had some issues. My pointe is that for the dollars you are gonna spend to get 10 hp out of the 650 motor you can do a swap for a little more. Plus sell your 650 motor. And after your mods on the 650 motor you are gonna have what max 40 hp? Maybe 45? Hell even the 650 vtwin is 56 hp. And the 800 is 65 on the 06-08's. Not to mention the torque output if the vtwins is a lot better. I am a Arctic Cat guy. Thats why I swapped my motor. Instead of buying a rzr. Or a Teryx. If you don't ever believe another word I write believe me when I say that I could have bought a rzr and a teryx and almost a commander too for what I have in my prowler. But I did not. I faced the fact that the 650 motor was not gonna do what I wanted no matter how much money I threw at it. And being the die hard cat guy I am I considered stuffing the 04 hayabusa motor in that I had sitting under my bench. But did not want something so obvious. Plus I still wanted 4x4. So the rotax was the obvious choice because the thundercat was not out yet. And I think we can all agree that the rotax was the better choice over the early AC vtwin.
No one knows what is under the hood on mine. Unless you know who I am and what my cat looks like. As far as 98 percent of the people who saw my cat have no idea what motor is in it. It does still say ARCTIC CAT on it. And there is a sticker on the back of the bed that reads KITTY KITTY YOUR ASS. In the past there has been quite a few people get to read that sticker.

Right on, I didn't mean to insult ya by any means. I was just making light of the swap.. i hear you can really make that kitty move!! i've read some of the past comments of your build and it sounds like a real animal.. I'd love to see what you're gonna do if you get some shop time with the new 1000 we're all so patiently waiting to be released. You guys build some crazy machines down there for sure.. probably too fast for a lot of the trails I run as they tend to be narrow and pretty swampy! :D I have the 700 and for my purpose it seems to work quite well.. haven't heard much about issues with the new 700's. for every riding type there is a machine suited or that can be suited for that rider.. that being said, I would love to have a machine like yours just to be able to shock and awe the boys when I sling mud 50 feet in the air with the touch of the throttle! lol

Yeah true enough.. I've thought about doing some major mods but it seems to be one of those things that once a fella starts, its hard to stop! lol.. I've been on this slope before with my snowmobile and it gets expensive.. ha I've gotten some surprisingly good results with an intake and a pipe so i'm gonna try playing with my clutch weights next.. and so it begins.. :)
