So just wanted to update you guys. First off, thanks a bunch for the help! So my buddy worked on it for a while and when he got everything put back together, it was really hard to change gears and he was afraid the something was bad in the transmission and he wasn't comfortable looking in there. So I took it to Princeton Powersports in West Virginia. Very good people, very nice and helpful. Got it finished in less than a week and they replaced just about everything in the clutch area. The mechanic said the whole problem could have been from the belt being on backwards slipping on the pully and creating heat. He also said it was a good, strong running machine and shouldn't give me any trouble now. When I bought it, the guy said that he replaced the belt so it is possible and my buddy has a wildcat, which the machanic said the prowler engine is in backwards to a wildcat. So $1250 later, it runs great so far but I haven't run it for any length of time to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks again for the help and advice!!

Are the Air In & Out ducts clear? How does the spring on the secondary look? Is there any trace of oil in the clutch housing, I understand that you replaced the seals. Is anything dragging, such as; brakes, front differential, rear differential, ??????. Sometimes the parking brake will hang up, check the rear mounted caliper. I smoked a belt on mine when the fixed plate nut backed off, I now install a new nut after 2 uses, they are cheap at 3.50 each.
Should there be oil in the clutch housing or no? I notice there is a drain plug.

No, there shouldn't be any oil in the clutch housing, it could cause your belt to slip. The drain plug is there just in case you would happen to get water inside the clutch and need to drain and dry it out.

Thank you for the reply, sounds like I may need to remove the primary clutch and find a seal that is leaking. This may explain my loss of power and unique smell when I attempt to drive.
