I have been running a factory belt with no problems at all. Getting ready to take a trip to the dunes and the dealer only has a Carlisle belt, what do you guys think about the Carlisle product? What is every one else using?

I changed my belt out after about 100 hours. I then kept the original for a spare. The one I took off was actually just fine. The Prowlers don't really eat through belts like the Rhino. It would be nice to have, but I don't think you really need a spare unless you are really getting up there in hours and miles on your original..............

Hey Desert cat,At the dunes is the only place that i have broke belts. On either engine. My 650 had 800 miles on the first belt that broke at test hill. And that was 800 miles of dunes, mexico, cinders and all over. And it was warm out there every time it has happened. And also every time it has happened it was at the hill.
Seth how many miles do you have on this belt?Do you plan on trying to get up any of the big hills? Will you be riding with others or by yourself?
I just got back from the dunes tonight and they are really wet.And that will help your belt a lot. They were so wet you probably could drive a motor home to the hill if you wanted. And they will be pretty wet for i would say the next couple of weeks.

Chris,
We are going the weekend of the 21st so it should be wet still. I have about 34hrs or 370 miles on a new belt. I hope climb anything she will climb. It should just be me and my daughter with the old cooler. For the first trip I will be with out paddles, I want to see if going to the dunes with the prowler is for me before I spend the money on padles. I was asking about what kind of belts because the dealer does not have a AC belt in stock and he waits to get a large order before placing it. I am a firm believer in the AC belts also.

Seth, have you tried Babitts online for your AC parts?About 20-30 percent cheaper and no sales tax.So with you not having to pay sales tax it makes up for the shipping. Also I think pcp offroad here in phoenix has a belt in stock.Of course It would make you feel better to have a spare. But at 370 miles on your current belt you should be ok.

Cool, well for the first trip I will give the big horns a try. Have you guys noticed that maxxis just came out with Big Horn 2.0 which are about 4-5 lbs lighter.
