OK guys i met an Arctic Cat owner at the Sand Addiction Magazine Dune Tour! He is a member of this forum Sandchris; Sorry to do this to you Bro but some one has got to tell the story.

Well Chris drives a Prowler 650 stock looking ride, But this thing is way fast for a stock cat! I am going to let Chris say what he wants about the engine, I will just show you the pictures and movies HeHe:D

Chris is a bit of a celebrity this weekend, he spanked all the fast rides at Gordon's Wells! And there were some really fast UTV's there!

Congratulations! sandchris!!!!

You and your AC Prowler are the fastest UTv's in the West!!!! I ride all over the West and i hear about fast rides! I have seen Kong the R1 from Pismo, i know the owners of a couple of Prowlers that are fast But I have already ridden Pismox2, Baja, Glamis x5, Ocotillo, Beaumont, Bee Canyon, Silver Lake, Primm and a few other places this season and your ride is the fastest I have seen!! Well done! And your kids Raptor is fast also!

I almost forgot; It has an 1800 watt stereo system in it with an alternator so the battery never goes dead!

Hey glamis prowler thanks for a great weekend.Again all of you guys were great. And i can't wait to run into you guys again.

Nice ride... Turbo Rotax? Is that a driveline Alternator?
Uhhh would love to know when you guys are going to be out there again..
Hey phat cat,yes it is a drive line alt.I have been running that for two years now.No problems and works great.I have done a couple of rhinos like that too.Had do have a pulley machined for the rhinos though.

I thought for sure we would see you out there phat cat. What happened?

Nice!
I had a pulley welding and balanced on my driveshaft when I shortened it, with the anticipation of putting a driveline system in.. I bought a 65amp 1-wire alternator and now just have to mount it.. Approx what diameter is your pulley on your driveline if you dont mind me asking? And at what speed do you need to be going for it to start charging?

Thanks for any info Chris!

I cant remember what diam. the pulley is.But I can measure it for you.It comes on at 26 mph with a 26 in tire. And will stay on down to ten mph. That is a 100 amp alt and it puts out about 40 amps at about 1000-1200 rpm according to the build sheet on the alternator.

Fast cat

Chris,

Finally got to the photos....I can see why you would have axle issues with a buggy like that. Give me a call one of these days and send some engine photos also.

Hey phat cat that pulley is 7" in diameter.
Nice!

Thanks Chris!
motor?

Chris
what motor are you running? I've only done cosmetic upgrades to my prowler and would like to pursue some performance goodies. Where to start and what is the best bang for the buck? thanks
Hey beach prowler, it is a rotax motor. The best bang for the buck in my opinion is to keep it as light as possible.Especially the tires and wheels. As you probably know when you add weight to these it hurts them. The lighter the tire and wheel combo the quicker they are.Next on my list is clutching, then intake and carb, exhaust. It would surprise you how much better they will run with a stock motor or slightly modded and douglas .125 or .180 12" wheels and light tires light goodyears or the new itp knobby.
The super charger kit from Randy @ atvtronics sounds interesting.I have to tell you though the v twin rotax makes these things so fun and reliable. And i know Phat cat has put a thunder cat in his that i think he is pretty happy with.
It depends on what you really want. If its close to what you need maybe a few bolt ons.If you need a little more they are getting pretty good reliable dyno numbers now @ pcp offroad here in phoenix. But if you need more you might want to consider a engine swap.It sounds expensive but it is well worth it.
I have phone numbers if you need em. Hope this helps
