Hi there, I just got my second prowler.. A 2010 xtx 700, the old one ('09 550) went back.. Just had too many issues with it.. I'm anxious to talk to a community of Prowler owners because I'm now a little sceptical of the AC name.. Been having a few issues with the new one too :confused: hope to hear from you all and participate in some good discussions!

Welcome aboard.

I think it's fair to say that all of the manufacturers have issues with their products. You can fix the issues your self or hope that the manufacturer recognizes the problem and will fix it for you. I have found that my first statement seems to work best. Post up your issues and someone will respond and try to help you.

welcome to the forum, i acquired 2010 xtx about a month ago, just curious to know what are the issues you ran in to?

Welcome to the site. These guys know their stuff. I'm sure someone will be able to help you figure out the cause of your issues.

Flying's advise is sound ...... don't wait for the factory and loose a bunch of sleep and aggravation over minor issues , just fix'em and move on ..

as said by someone smarter than I , everything manufactured these days will have some issue just hope they are all minor.

welcome to the forum, i acquired 2010 xtx about a month ago, just curious to know what are the issues you ran in to?
For the most part the xtx has been a great unit.. Loads of power and seemed to run pretty tight.. Until I was on the way back from the camp (quite a way back in the woods) and the drive belt completely detonated. I have had other units and snowmobiles that run on belt drive systems and understand that these things happen. The only thing that bothered me is that it was brand new and only had 180 miles on it. I guide for out of province deer hunters and really need a machine I can depend on without question (which is why the 550 had to go). That being said, I am totally not on here to "brand bash" at all.. I'd just like to know if its something I can prevent from happening or if someone knows anything about this..

Are you running low range when working it? And what speed were you running when it went, on and off the throttle a lot?

I have an 08 700XTX, bought new in Aug/09, and I now have 3500 kms (2100 miles) on it without a single issue. It has been a great machine! 100% satisfied with my purchase!

What kind of problems did you have with the 550 prowler? :confused:

I had more issues than I can really list.. I've concluded that I just ended up with a lemon.. I never once went out on a wheeling trip without coming back with something broke or not working.. I only run back roads and groomed trails.. That's why I bought it.. The manufacturer wouldn't believe me when I told them this.. The person I spoke with even said "if I had a dollar for every person that said that". Couldn't believe it! I have another wheeler for back country driving and mud bogging.. The prowler is my easy going toy and the 550 just wasn't up to snuff.. Also, I weight 245 lbs and and a lot of my buddies are the same or weigh even more.. It just didn't have the power to haul us around..

Welcome to the site. How noticeable is the power from the 550 to the 700?
Hey thanks for the welcome. The power difference between the 550 and the 700 is unbelievable! The bigger bike doesn't have a lot more top end but the bottom end torque and power doesn't even compare to the 550. Not say that the 550 doesn't have good power, because for the size of the engine in that size of a machine it does work very well. That being said, I'm a big guy and it just wasn't enough for me.. I like to be able to throw a little gravel when I step on it! Ha

Good to hear! Like I said, the belt thing could just be a fluke.. Are you still running the original belt?
